BizInt Smart Charts Reference Rows™
As of Summer 2010, BizInt Solutions is working towards providing Reference Row capabilities as a separate utility -- BizInt Smart Charts Reference Rows™ -- which can be used with BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipelines and BizInt Smart Charts for Patents 3.4. We hope to release BizInt Smart Charts Reference Rows in spring 2011.
BizInt Smart Charts Reference Rows will be included in BizInt Smart Charts for Patents and BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipelines licenses. Eventually, the Reference Row capabilities will be incorporated into a future 4.0 release.
Reference Row Alpha software available for download
In 2010, Reference Rows will be released as a series of working prototypes,
so that customers can begin creating and using Reference Rows.
Customers are invited to download the latest software using your
standard BizInt userid and password. You will be contacted periodically
for feedback and comments.

Version 4.0 under development
The focus of BizInt development for the past several years has been "Reference Rows" -- the ability to create a single row combining information from different sources.
In BizInt Smart Charts Version 3 you can combine related information from different databases and hosts into a single tabular report or "chart". Each record is represented by a single row in the chart with a link back to the original record. Similar information from different sources is aligned in the same column. The "Generate Common Drug Name" tool analyzes drug names and synonyms to help identify related compounds in BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipelines. A similar "Identify Common Patent Families" helps group related patent records from different sources.
Reference Rows takes the next step in creating combined reports. You can generate a "Reference Row" which represents related drug records or patent family members. Reference Rows are constructed automatically based on user-defined rules. These rules define how information should be selected from different records to construct each cell in the reference row. You can override these selections on a cell by cell basis. Reference Rows contain links to all the original records associated with a Reference Row.
Reference Rows Prototype Software
The Reference Rows Alpha software can open a chart created in Version 3.3.
Reference rows are generated and you can define rules, see which
cells are selected by the rules, and manually override cell selection.
The final step is generate HTML which displays the Reference Row along
with all of the supporting documents. The Reference Rows HTML is compatible with Firefox, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Word. It is not
compatible with Excel.
A sample of a Reference Row in HTML (from BizInt Smart Charts for Patents 4.0 Alpha #1) shows how several rows are summarized by one reference row. Another example shows Reference Rows in a Drug Pipeline chart.
What's the schedule for Reference Rows
In 2010, we will be releasing a series of working prototype software.
Alpha #1 was released in late September 2009 and Alpha #2 will be
released in March 2010. Additional capabilities will be introduced to
these prototypes based on customer feedback.
We are continuing development of the current Version 3.3 software for
both BizInt Smart Charts for Patents and BizInt Smart Charts for Drug
Pipelines, and plan to release new Versions 3.4 in late Summer/early
Fall 2010.
We do not have a schedule for the release of Version 4.0 software.
